The adventure trek challenge will encompass New Zealands nine “Great Walks’’ (and additional Caples and Greenstone tracks ... ON THE WILDSIDE supports the protection of our Oceans habitats.

An exciting part to the success of this Adventure trek is the opportunity for us to promote the conservation of our oceans and its inhabitants.  We are seeking kind donations to support a LAST OCEAN Charitable Trust.

Why this cause?

LAST OCEAN Charitable Trust is non-profit organisation concerned with the protection of the Ross Sea in Antarctic waters. They aim to raise awareness of the Ross Sea and promote the establishment of a Ross Sea marine protected area.

We will walk miles for this cause...its exactly what we are about! The amazing Humpback Whales that we swim with every year in Vavau Tonga migrate from these rich feeding grounds of the Ross sea (and neighbouring Southern Oceans below New Zealand) to Tonga to breed. We want to support the protection of this habitat and protect Humpback whales migration from the Ross Sea to Tonga.

ON THE WILDSIDE see this as a critical. This Oceans inhabitants include many vulnerable species including Humpback whales, also other marine mammals, fish, birds and marine life that need protection from exploitation, and environmental damage.

So currently it is known as the Great Whale Walk. Donations will be accepted gratefully through this website.

Sponsorship

For this adventure Brandon requires gear that will not let him down like shoes that don’t break, waterproof jackets that are breathable and keep out the weather. Equally important are cool polyester apparel in the heat and merino clothing and socks for the cool. Everything has to be durable and lightweight... things that pack small and travel well.

hikoi logo.jpgIn seeking sponsorship for equipment Brandon approached long time friend Brad Edwards from Hikoi. Brad and his Hikoi brand has kindly got behind Whale Walk and has sponsored this years adventure with trekking shoes and apparel.
